Introduction

Edge Recruits is the sole supplier of production staff to Oscar Mayer, based in Chard, Somerset, South West England. We have been tasked to recruit a significant number of additional Production Operatives to enable Oscar Mayer to meet seasonal demand for its products and to staff new production lines.

Oscar Mayer Limited, is one of the leading producers of chilled ready meals in the country. It commenced manufacturing in Chard, in November 1985 with an initial workforce of 12 people in a small part of the existing factory.  With the change in lifestyle since the mid 1980’s the ready meal market has seen rapid growth. Oscar Mayer has developed into a business which now employs over 900 employees producing over 44 million meals a year.  The company has been credited with various awards from the SuperMeat Awards to the recent achievement of the Grocer’s Gold Award in the Best Own Label Supplier.  Oscar Mayer’s products can be found in Sainsbury’s stores all over the country.  All of their products appear under the supermarket’s own label rather than as an Oscar Mayer brand. As one of the largest manufacturers in South Somerset, Oscar Mayer continues to maintain strong links in the community by supporting various local charities, clubs and schools. It has been instrumental in helping the local Community School to become a ‘Regional Centre of Excellence”.

Today Oscar Mayer manufactures on average over one million meals a week.  Their success is due to the efforts of all their permanent staff and our temporary staff in working together to ensure their customers get the right quality product at the right time, every time.  To ensure they meet the customer requirements Oscar Mayer operates 24 hours a day 7 days of the week.  Satisfied customers are the reason they exist!

Oscar Mayer is part of the privately owned Oscar Mayer group of companies which includes Rowan Foods in Wrexham and Ferndale Foods in Thamesmead, East London.  They pride themselves on being a “family run business”, with a friendly and traditional working atmosphere, a strong belief in teamwork, and they try their best to create as many opportunities as possible for all their people.
